Riprap VS Seawalls At Lake Of The Ozarks

The placement of riprap is now the preferred method for bank stabilization here at Lake of the Ozarks. Riprap absorbs wave energy and greatly reduces shoreline erosion. The rough surface of riprap dissipates wave action much more so than a
smooth concrete sea wall. Riprap is self-adjusting to small amounts of substrate consolidation or movement so it may experience minor damage and still continue to function adequately. Lakefront property owners are encouraged to install riprap in front of existing concrete seawalls to prevent erosion at the base of poured concrete sea walls.
